Job summary

New Hope Counseling Services in Houston, TX, seeks a full-time Licensed Mental Health Therapist with expertise in cultural competence to join our outpatient team. This remote role allows you to deliver high-quality care to diverse clients while coordinating with psychiatrists and other professionals during standard weekday hours.

Qualifications

• Master’s or doctoral degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Current, valid licensure in Texas as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).
• Demonstrated understanding of mental health disorders and evidence-based treatment approaches with a focus on cultural competence.
• Experience providing individual and group therapy using strategies attuned to diverse cultural perspectives.
• Strong crisis management skills with an ability to maintain composure in high-pressure scenarios.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal qualities with a proven track record of establishing trust with clients.
• Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and the ability to adapt to various computer applications.
• Commitment to ethical practice, professionalism, and confidentiality in all interactions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive, culturally sensitive mental health assessments to accurately understand each patient’s unique background and needs.
• Develop personalized treatment plans that incorporate evidence-based interventions and cultural considerations.
• Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, addressing diverse mental health challenges and encouraging resilience among clients.
• Engage in collaborative care, working alongside psychiatrists and other practitioners to ensure a holistic approach to mental health.
• Provide crisis intervention and timely support during mental health emergencies, ensuring patient safety and emotional stability.
• Educate clients and their families regarding mental health conditions, addressing treatment options and available community resources.
• Maintain meticulous documentation in compliance with legal and ethical standards, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
• Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and cultural competency training to foster continuous improvement in therapy practices.
• Stay abreast of the latest research and developments in mental health treatments, actively integrating new knowledge into your practice.
