Job summary

NC Local is a statewide nonprofit newsroom launching a membership program to turn readers into supporters. As Audience Strategist, you will shape how North Carolinians discover NC Local and join the community, working with our digital team to grow subscriptions and engagement.

This role owns the full funnel from awareness to conversion, building campaigns, managing CRM data, and partnering with newsroom and development teams to reach ambitious membership revenue targets.

Qualifications

• Experience building or growing a membership or donor program.
• Proven ability to run donor campaigns and craft compelling appeals.
• Strong data and CRM analysis skills to segment audiences.
• Creative thinker who can design and test programs and iterate.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a statewide audience growth and membership strategy.
• Define membership tiers, benefits and onboarding experiences.
• Lead end-to-end member journeys from welcome to renewal.
• Manage donor campaigns and optimize gifts and retention.
• Collaborate with newsroom and development teams and leadership.
