Job summary

NC Local is a statewide nonprofit newsroom seeking an audience strategist to build a membership program from the ground up and grow an engaged readership across newsletters and events.

You’ll lead marketing and CRM-driven campaigns to drive signups, develop membership tiers, and coordinate with newsroom and development teams to reach ambitious revenue targets. This is a remote-friendly, full-time role based in North Carolina.

Qualifications

• Experience building or growing a membership or donor program.
• Ability to analyze CRM data and tailor campaigns.
• Strong collaboration across newsroom, development, and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Drive awareness of NC Local by building and running a statewide marketing strategy that promotes the brand and memberships.
• Define, design, and lead the end-to-end membership program with offerings, benefits, and renewals.
• Grow newsletter subscribers and convert anonymous readers into known contacts through targeted campaigns and signals from data.
• Manage donor campaigns to increase acquisition, retention and upgrades, and oversee segmentation and journey mapping with cross-functional partners.
• Collaborate with Digital Engagement, Editorial and Development teams to align content promotion with membership goals.
