Job summary

Sumitomo Pharma America is seeking an Associate Director, Medical Strategy (Prostate Cancer) to lead medical affairs strategy and scientific collaboration for prostate cancer programs in a primarily remote US role.

The role reports to the Medical Affairs Director, and partners with the TA Lead to drive scientific communications, publication planning, and external expert engagement across internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree required; PharmD, PhD, MD, DO or equivalent strongly preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical/biotech or life sciences industry.
• Medical Affairs experience required; oncology experience strongly preferred.
• Experience supporting medical strategy, scientific communications, publication planning, evidence generation, or field medical collaboration preferred.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams and external scientific experts in a compliant, highly regulated environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the medical director for assigned prostate cancer projects, providing medical and scientific leadership.
• Develops Medical Affairs strategic plans aligned with brand imperatives and external input.
• Coordinates with alliance partners to align Medical Affairs activities.
• Provides medical input into development and execution of Medical Affairs plans and platforms.
• Collaborates with U.S. Field Medical, Medical Communications & Operations, RWE & HEOR, and ex-U.S. colleagues for cross-functional alignment.
• Supports multimodal medical education channels: publications, presentations, congresses, advisory boards, IME, symposia.
• Contributes to development and implementation of detailed scientific publication plans.
