Job summary

Trinity Health is seeking a detail-oriented Documentation Specialist for remote work to ensure medical records documentation meets HCFA, MCC, and JCAHO guidelines. You will receive, review, and process back-end documentation to support accurate billing and timely submissions.

You will collaborate with the Business/Facilities Manager, liaise with physician offices, resolve issues, track outstanding docs, and train new billing coordinators as needed. EPIC experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience in a medical records office setting preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Strong analytical, organizational and general business office skills.
• Proficiency with microcomputer systems and billing software.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines with accuracy.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ethical behavior expected.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all medical records documentation is completed accurately and submitted as required.
• Enter data into billing software and verify accuracy of client accounts.
• Troubleshoot system issues and prepare documentation for resolution as needed.
• Generate and process billing reports weekly for timely billing.
• Partner with Intake and other teams to improve processes and integrity of accounts.
• Provide monthly billing/accounts receivable updates to management.
• Help train new billing coordinators as needed.
• Serve as primary contact between physician offices and the agency on required docs; travel to offices may occur.
• Track outstanding orders and manage related documentation, mailings, and follow-ups.
• Participate in billing-related meetings and calls with THHS.
• Maintain knowledge of applicable laws and internal policies, including Integrity Program.
• Support continuous quality improvement and a positive team environment.
• Adapt to changing priorities and deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
