Job summary

The American Red Cross seeks an experienced transfusion medicine physician to lead medical consultation and program oversight for hospital partners. You will provide expert clinical guidance, education, and leadership for blood banking and donor services.

The role offers remote work with periodic onsite presence and travel within the designated region. A MD/DO with transfusion medicine fellowship is required, with board certification in related fields highly desirable.

Qualifications

• MD/DO with post‑graduate training in transfusion medicine required.
• Board certification/eligibility in internal medicine, pediatrics or clinical pathology preferred.
• Board certification in transfusion medicine or equivalent is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical consultation in transfusion medicine, blood banking and patient services to hospital customers.
• Direct patient service programs including therapeutic apheresis, stem cell collection and processing, and patient blood management.
• Direct the medical aspects of regulated blood center operations including collections and donor management.
• Develop medical policies and procedures, and communicate clinical guidance to hospital partners.
