Job summary

Datavant seeks a Provider Practice Coding Consultant to guide healthcare professionals in coding practices and quality improvement. You will work with clients and stakeholders to identify solutions and ensure compliant coding across hospitals and alternate care settings.

The role emphasizes regulation compliance, data quality, and ongoing education, with remote-friendly collaboration and flexible training support.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of coding experience.
• AHIMA or AAPC credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS or CPC family).
• Strong written and verbal communication and time management.
• Experience with encoding/abstracting software.
• Must pass annual HIPAA exam and related testing.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and assign codes (CPT, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, HCPCS).
• Perform data quality reviews for compliance with guidelines.
• Communicate professionally with clients, staff, and management.
• Demonstrate clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Identify documentation improvement opportunities and coding issues.
• Adhere to privacy and security policies; use VPN as needed.
• Support Datavant HIM division policies and compliance.
• Track continuing education credits and maintain expertise.
• Attend mandatory in-services and educational meetings.
