Yale University is seeking a Medical Coding and Billing Assistant 1 to review charge submissions for patient services, verify coding accuracy (ICD-10, CPT/HCPCS), and ensure compliance with HIPAA and payer requirements within Yale Medicine Administration.

The role supports a fast-paced academic environment, offers remote work options for Connecticut-based candidates, and requires CPC-A certification with 4+ years of related experience or an Associate’s degree with relevant work history.

Competenze

• At least four years of related work experience, with two years in the same job family at the next lower level, and high school education.
• Or two years of related work experience plus an Associate’s degree or equivalent.
• Certified Professional Coder Apprentice (CPC-A) through AAPC; CPC status within 2 years.
• Preferred CPC certification (CPC) is advantageous.

Mansioni

• Review charge sessions for ICD-10/CPT/HCPCS codes and modifiers; resolve queue edits.
• Verify information to submit clean claims per payer guidelines and YMA policies.
• Pend sessions to correct documentation; contact providers to amend records when needed.
• Adhere to Yale Medicine policies; participate in training and foster teamwork.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
