EvergreenHealth in Kirkland, WA is seeking a professional medical coder to abstract and assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes for professional services. You will ensure accuracy and support revenue integrity by addressing denials and coding inquiries.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, CPC/CCA/COC or similar credential, and knowledge of payer billing rules. Experience in a multi-specialty setting is preferred. Salary ranges reflect in-state pay scales and premium incentives.

Qualifications

• Proficient knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding conventions.
• Basic understanding of anatomy, physiology and disease processes.
• General understanding of payer billing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Abstracts, analyzes, and assigns CPT, HCPCS and ICD-10-CM codes for professional services based on documentation in the medical record.
• Meets department productivity and accuracy standards.
• Communicates with clinicians regarding CPT code changes and denials.
• Evaluates coding inquiries for accuracy based on documentation.
• Researches and drafts appeals for payer denials.
• Identifies trends in code changes, denials, and compliance risks.
• Suggests documentation improvements to supervisors.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
