UnitedHealth Group is seeking a professional medical coder specializing in palliative care to join our Optum coding team. You will assign accurate ICD-10 and CPT codes, review clinical documentation, and ensure timely billing while staying current with coding updates.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Professional coder certification AHIMA and/or AAPC CPC/COC/CPC-P/CCS required, maintained annually.
• 2+ years of experience with Windows PC environment including MS Excel and EMR systems.
• 2+ years of ICD-10 and CPT coding with a focus in Palliative Care.

Responsibilities

• Assigns accurate diagnostic and procedure codes per guidelines for palliative care.
• Assigns CPT and ICD-10 codes to all services.
• Monitors work queues to ensure timely charging/coding.
• Generates coding queries for clarification as needed.
• Keeps up-to-date with coding conventions and updates.
• Ability to manage workload under pressure with minimal supervision.
