Job summary

UTMB Health in Galveston, TX is seeking a professional coder to properly code and audit professional services for inpatient, hospital outpatient and other settings to ensure accurate reimbursement.

You will review documentation in EPIC and apply ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS and CPT codes, collaborating with education teams for documentation clarification. Remote, full-time work with standard weekdays.

Qualifications

• Two years of medical billing or related experience, or related training.
• Must hold one of AHIMA certifications (CCA/CCS/CCS-P/RHIA/RHIT) or AAPC certifications (COC/CPC/CPC-A/CRC).

Responsibilities

• Reviews documentation in EPIC and/or on paper to assign ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS and CPT codes.
• Communicates with education team and providers for documentation clarification or missing elements.
• Utilizes encoder/Optum software to assign all appropriate ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS and CPT codes.
• Sequences diagnoses and procedures to generate clean claims per Coding Guidelines.
