Job summary

Meduit is seeking a Medical Coder II to accurately code hospital outpatient and professional claims and analyze denials to maximize reimbursement. Remote position with a schedule of 8am–5pm ET/CT/MT/PT and a compensation range of $26–$30 per hour, depending on qualifications.

The role requires 5 years of coding experience, proficiency with Epic or other EMR systems, and relevant coding certifications. The department is Insurance and reports to Coding Supervisor.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 5 years of on-the-job experience in abstract coding and coding denials for hospital outpatient and professional claims.
• Experience with Payor and Policy Research; Epic platform experience; current coding certifications from AAPC or AHIMA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read and analyze patient records.
• Code for services including E/M, laboratory, imaging, injections and infusions, and specialty surgical procedures in clinic and hospital outpatient settings.
• Monitor, research, and correct claim denials within health plan requirements and document trends for follow-up.
• Submit clean claims for payment.
• Maintain knowledge of coding guidelines and comply with federal and state standards (CCI edits, Medicare bulletins, ACR bulletins).
• Find documentation in multiple EMR systems (EPIC, ECW, Cerner, Meditech).
• Interact with clients to ensure accuracy; maintain patient confidentiality and information security.
• Maintain an error rate of 5% or less; meet production goals set by supervisor.
