Job summary

UofL Health is seeking a Coder I to perform abstraction and assignment of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes for diverse clinical encounters from home in Kentucky. This role supports accurate reimbursement and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate has a High school diploma or GED, 1–4 years physician coding experience, and CPC/CCS/CCS-P/CCA certifications. Work closely with providers while adhering to HIPAA and EM guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED/equivalent required.
• 1–4 years physician coding experience preferred.
• CPC, CCS, CCS-P or CCA certification required/accredited by AAPC or AHIMA.

Responsibilities

• Abstracts information from service documentation and assigns CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes.
• Reviews and resolves coding denials.
• Completes charges sessions in assigned work queues; ensures documentation meets EM guidelines.
• Ensures documentation meets Teaching Physician Rules as mandated by CMS and ULH policies.
• Maintains HIPAA privacy and security compliance; collaborates with managers and providers.
