Job summary

Virtua Health seeks a part-time Medical Coding Specialist to abstract and code outpatient encounters. You will assign CPT-4 and ICD-10-CM codes from physician documentation and research coding issues to ensure compliant billing.

Two years coding experience or CPC certification is required, with strong attention to detail, good communication, and teamwork. The role supports remote work with onsite testing required in Marlton, NJ for interview steps.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years records coding experience or equivalent education.
• Experience in a Microsoft Windows environment.
• Detail-oriented with high accuracy in work products.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Experience with an electronic health record system preferred.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology; CPC certified.

Responsibilities

• Abstract billing for outpatient E/M codes, minor procedures and HCPCS from provider notes.
• Assign CPT-4, ICD-10-CM codes and modifiers as appropriate.
• Research coding/billing issues and advise on best practice with providers.
