The role handles large volumes of unpaid or incorrectly paid claims to secure reimbursement. Responsibilities include reviewing and resubmitting claims, researching denials, assisting patients with billing questions, and coordinating with payers and providers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Two years medical billing course is desired.
• Experience with patient accounts billing is preferred.
• Familiarity with Medinformatix or other patient accounting systems is preferred.
• CPT and ICD-10 coding experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review unpaid claims by calling for payment status and resubmitting as needed.
• Follow up with insurance companies on unpaid or incorrect services.
• Explain insurance processes to patients and answer billing questions.
• Handle collections questions when needed.
• Write off uncollectible balances up to $500 depending on experience.
• Ensure accurate posting as per payor adjudication advice.
• Coordinate with credentialing for provider enrollment issues.
• Attend monthly policy update meetings.
