This position can be performed 100% remotely and out-of-state candidates will be considered, with duties including EOB review, appeals preparation, and data entry in Excel.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 1–2 years in a fast-paced medical billing environment.
• Experience in healthcare setting preferred.
• Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10.
• Strong communication and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Follow up on unpaid or rejected insurance claims with carriers and providers.
• Respond to inquiries from insurance carriers via phone, email, or fax with high customer service.
• Pursue reimbursement by placing calls and logging contacts in tracking systems.
• Review EOBs and take action per company guidelines.
• Prepare appeals when denials are not in agreement with payers.
• Advise team lead on trends in insurance denials to identify payer issues.
• Follow HIPAA guidelines when handling patient information.
• Navigate medical claim billing and EMR software and understand payer hierarchies.
• Verify patient eligibility/coverage and research ICD-10/CPT codes as needed.
• Complete required reports using Microsoft Excel.
