Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience.
• Equivalent education/experience may substitute for minimum qualifications.
• Experience in patient accounting or healthcare billing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Edit, prepare, and submit UB-04, CMS-1500, ADA, and other applicable billing forms and electronic claims.
• Analyze and take appropriate action on unresolved insurance accounts, including denied or unpaid claims.
• Perform insurance claim and account follow-up by researching claim status and payer requirements.
• Review payer denials and claim rejections to determine corrective actions (rebilling, reconsideration, appeal).
• Review patient account status and determine appropriate resolution based on history and payments.
• Prepare and/or process Accounts Receivable adjustments per policies and terms.
• Analyze insurance credit-balance accounts and resolve overpayments or discrepancies.
• Use payer portals and internal resources to verify eligibility, benefits, and coverage.
• Update demographic, insurance, and payer information to support claim submission.
• Communicate with UW staff and third-party payers to obtain and resolve information.
• Maintain spreadsheets and reports using Microsoft Excel, Word for tracking and reimbursements.
