Job summary

UnitedHealth Group, through WellMed, seeks a Medical Assistant to support clinicians in patient care across the U.S. Remote work is allowed from anywhere in the country, with supervision by a provider.

The MA performs routine tasks, prepares rooms, collects specimens, and ensures infection control. Required qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, MA certification or eligibility within 180 days, BLS certification, medical terminology knowledge, and basic computer skills (Excel).

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED equivalent.
• Current Medical Assistant certification or the ability to obtain the certification within 180 days of employment.
• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers at time of hire or within 30 days of hire.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Basic computer literacy with intermediate Excel skills.
• Proven ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Proven excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work remotely from home office.

Responsibilities

• Performs all duties within the scope of a Medical Assistant's practice; operates diagnostic equipment and collects specimens.
• Rooms patients and prepares for examination.
• Records patient care documentation accurately and timely.
• Coordinates patient care as directed by physicians and company standards.
• Respects patient confidentiality and maintains infection control.
• Supports and follows Standard Delegation of Orders (SDO).
• Performs all other related duties as assigned.
