Description: A remote Mechanical Design Engineer job is currently available at Belcan. This is a full-time, direct or contract position. Great matching candidates, either local or remote, will need a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline, and 5-10 years of applicable experience. You will be contributing to the conceptual design of airframe and/or dynamic components for some of the most advanced aircraft in the country.

Job Duties

  • Create complex 3D models and 2D drawings of pre- and post-production detail parts, assemblies, installations, sub-systems, and integrations for rotorcraft and/or fixed-wing design.
  • Own development, maturation, and release of product through customer's lifecycle.
  • Develop and manage technical engineering documentation including bill of materials, trade studies, and technical evaluations.
  • Successfully operate in team environment by coordinating with both internal teams and external customers at all times. This includes managing your own workload while directly assisting with the professional & engineering development of junior design staff.
  • Demonstrate ability to accurately receive/interpret/extrapolate engineering direction, whether verbal or written.
  • Provide and maintain synchronization across all applicable engineering disciplines (e.g. structural/thermal analysis, manufacturing, avionics, etc.), both internally and externally.
  • Successfully operate within confines of key performance indexes such as project schedule and financial budget.

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline
  • 5-10 years of strong, applicable experience
  • Strong background in Computer Aided Design (CAD) modeling and drafting software, preferably CATIA v5/v6/3DX, including experience with surface modeling along complex curvatures
  • Experience with Sheet Metal, Machining, and/or Composites Design
  • Proficient in use of ANSI/ASME Y14.1 design and drafting standards
  • In-depth knowledge of industry-standard specifications, tools, and procedures
  • Able to accurately generate and interpret Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) schemes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skill with ability to accomplish assignments in either independent or in team-setting
  • U.S. Citizen required

Preferred

  • Prior experience working with Sikorsky products and software
  • Experience reviewing engineering drawings and related documents for technical accuracy
  • Composites modeling experience
  • Model-Based Definition (MBD) experience

Compensation

We provide a competitive pay and benefits package. This position is offering a salary rate of $70,000 to $104,000 however, Belcan considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to education, experience, geographic location, and discipline. Benefits offered may include health care, dental, vision, life insurance; 401(k); education assistance; paid time off including PTO, holidays, and any other paid leave required by law.'
