Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Mechanical BIM (Digital Design) Specialist to support mechanical engineering design and documentation for data center projects. You will develop and coordinate BIM models using Autodesk Revit, translate engineering markups into coordinated drawings, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams from remote locations across the US.

The role emphasizes independent drafting work, model coordination, and adherence to BIM standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of relevant experience, or 4+ years with an associate degree.
• Strong experience with Autodesk Revit and BIM/CAD tools used for mechanical engineering design and building systems applications.
• Experience with mechanical drafting, construction documentation, and shop drawings.
• Ability to develop mechanical plans, sections, schedules, and details from engineering markups, redlines, and design direction.
• Experience with BIM model coordination, clash detection, and identification of interferences between building systems.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation and apply engineering direction to assigned modeling and drafting tasks.
• Ability to work independently, manage assigned deliverables, and collaborate effectively with engineers and multidisciplinary project teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain mechanical BIM models and construction documentation using Autodesk Revit and other applicable BIM/CAD software.
• Prepare mechanical plans, sections, schedules, details, and related drawings based on engineering markups, redlines, design documents, and technical direction.
• Develop and review mechanical shop drawings and detailed construction documents to support project execution.
• Perform model coordination with other building disciplines, including electrical, structural, architectural, and plumbing systems.
• Identify, document, and assist in resolving model clashes, interferences, and constructability issues.
• Interpret engineering design intent and translate technical information into accurate, coordinated BIM models and drawings.
• Work independently on assigned drafting and modeling tasks while collaborating with mechanical engineers and project team members to resolve technical questions.
• Maintain model accuracy, drawing quality, and compliance with project standards, established BIM protocols, and documentation requirements.
• Support project teams throughout the design and construction documentation process, incorporating revisions and updates as required.
