Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Master Network & Security Engineer to lead enterprise network-security design and operations. You will manage Palo Alto NGFW environments, PAN-OS, and Panorama, while advancing zero-trust policies and high-availability architectures.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, policy design, and coordinating with SOC and infrastructure teams to minimize risk and ensure service availability. This role is fully remote within the United States.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, IT, CS, Engineering or related field; third year if Bachelor’s.
• 10+ years in network engineering/security.
• 6+ years hands-on Palo Alto firewall experience in production.
• Advanced operational experience with Palo Alto Panorama.
• Strong expertise in Palo Alto High Availability.
• TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NAT, VPNs, and packet-level troubleshooting.
• Experience with Cortex XSIAM, Strata Logging Service, and log ingestion.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, deployment, administration, and lifecycle management of Palo Alto NGFW environments.
• Own centralized firewall management through Palo Alto Panorama (device groups, templates, upgrades).
• Design security policies using zero-trust, least-privilege principles.
• Configure and troubleshoot NAT, VPN, URL Filtering, Threat Prevention, and App-ID policies.
• Lead network segmentation, VLANs, routing, and microsegmentation initiatives.
• Architect and test HA deployments, resolve HA failures, and plan failover testing.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership on projects.
