Job summary

The American Psychological Association is seeking a Manager, PsycInfo Content Acquisition & Licensing to lead the identification, evaluation, and accessioning of journals and books for APA PsycInfo and APA PsycTests. You will negotiate licenses, guide metadata processes, and supervise a remote team to ensure timely, high-quality content delivery.

Responsibilities include building publisher relationships, managing budgets, and enforcing coverage policies across databases, with 5-10% travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required; Master’s degree preferred.
• At least 5 years of staff supervision in scholarly or professional publishing and/or editorial environment.
• 3-5 years of contract negotiation experience involving content licensing agreements.
• Experience with copyright and/or Creative Commons licenses is required.
• Experience managing complex, deadline-driven programs with budgeting and permissions knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Manages a team of Content Development staff and oversees personnel activities.
• Develops best practices for identifying content for psychology databases and monitors collection development.
• Builds relationships with publishers to enable content inclusion and handles sensitive communications with editors.
• Negotiates coverage and license agreements and optimizes e-feed processes for cost efficiency.
• Collaborates with APA IT on e-feed arrangements and interconnections.
• Develops and enforces coverage policies for journals and books.
• Manages budgets for content development staff and resources.
• Domestic and international travel up to 5-10%.
