Job summary

American Psychological Association (APA) is seeking a Manager of PsycInfo Content Acquisition & Licensing to identify, evaluate, and accession journals and books for APA PsycInfo and PsycTests databases, including licensing responsibilities to enable metadata processing.

The role requires 5+ years in scholarly publishing leadership, strong negotiating and budgeting skills, and remote-work management experience. Travel 5–10% is expected. Remote work policies apply per APA guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is required; Master’s preferred.
• Preferred psychology or related social science background.
• At least 5 years staff supervision in scholarly publishing.
• 3–5 years contract negotiation experience in licensing.
• Experience with copyright/Creative Commons licenses required.
• Experience managing deadline-driven programs and budgets.

Responsibilities

• Manages a team of Content Development staff and performance.
• Develops best practices for content identification for psychology databases.
• Builds publisher relationships to include content in databases.
• Negotiates license agreements and e-feed processes with publishers.
• Collaborates with APA IT on e-feed arrangements.
• Develops and enforces coverage policies for journals and books.
• Manages budgets for content development resources.
• Travel 5–10% domestically and internationally.
• Other duties as assigned.
