Job summary

Rocket Software is seeking a Senior Mainframe Modernization Solutions Architect to analyze, design, and implement modernization strategies for customers’ mainframe environments. This hands-on role demands building patterns, setting best practices, and guiding both customers and partners toward scalable cloud-ready solutions.

The ideal candidate will show deep expertise in infrastructure, application, or microservices modernization, with experience in COBOL, JCL, CICS, and cloud platforms.

Qualifications

• Advanced technical degree in CS or a related field.
• 4–10 years leading mainframe and legacy modernization initiatives.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, GCP and related cloud infrastructure.
• Hands-on COBOL/DB2/CICS on z/OS and non-x86 legacy systems.
• Fluent in written and verbal English and strong architectural skills.
• Willingness to travel internationally.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable, high-availability modernization solutions.
• Lead technical teams including customers, SI partners.
• Create PoCs and pilots to validate approaches.
• Deliver technical content: blogs, whitepapers, presentations.
• Provide architectural guidance to customers worldwide.
