Ensono is seeking a skilled Mainframe Engineer to design, develop, and maintain core mainframe applications. This role is remote in the United States, with opportunities to act as a technical lead and mentor junior team members to ensure high availability and performance.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of specialized mainframe experience and strong skills in COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, and VSAM, plus SDLC and version control proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Extensive experience in mainframe application development, support and maintenance.
• Proficiency in mainframe technologies: COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM; SDLC and version control knowledge.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Mainframe applications using COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, and VSAM.
• Experience with enterprise ticketing systems and operational workflows.
• Handle incidents, service requests and change requests in waterfall and agile projects.
• Provide technical troubleshooting and performance tuning for mainframe apps and queries.
• Create technical documentation for knowledge bases and SOPs; mentor juniors.
