Job summary

Cognizant Technology Solutions Corporation in the United States is seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer with strong COBOL, JCL, and VSAM skills to support core banking applications such as Deposits, Loans, and GL.

You will design, develop, test, and maintain mainframe solutions, analyze requirements, handle batch processing, debugging, and production support, and work with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable systems.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on mainframe application development using COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and batch processing environments.
• Strong hands-on experience in Core Banking modules: Deposits, Loans, GL, Tax systems.
• Experience with Endevor, Xpediter, and Easytrieve tools.
• Knowledge of CICS and IMS is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, test, and maintain mainframe applications supporting core banking operations.
• Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into effective mainframe solutions.
• Develop and support batch processing jobs using COBOL, JCL, VSAM, and other mainframe technologies.
• Perform code debugging, troubleshooting, defect resolution, and production support activities.
• Collaborate with business analysts, architects, testers, and stakeholders to implement system enhancements.
• Participate in code reviews, unit testing, SIT/UAT support, and deployment activities.
