Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer to support core banking applications and mainframe tech. You will work on deposits, loans, customer &Account management, GL and tax systems, leveraging COBOL, JCL, VSAM and related tools from a remote US setting.

The role includes design, development, testing, and production support, with collaboration across business analysts, architects, and QA teams. Prior banking domain experience is highly valued.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands‑on mainframe development with COBOL, JCL and VSAM.
• Strong banking domain experience in deposits, loans, GL, and tax systems.
• Experience with Endevor, Xpediter and Easytrieve preferred.
• Knowledge of CICS and IMS is a plus.
• Proven ability to analyze requirements and support deployments in banking environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, test and maintain mainframe apps for core banking ops.
• Analyze requirements and translate them into mainframe solutions.
• Develop and support batch jobs using COBOL, JCL, VSAM and other mainframe tech.
• Debug, troubleshoot, resolve defects, and provide production support.
• Collaborate with analysts, architects, testers, and stakeholders on enhancements.
• Participate in code reviews, SIT/UAT support and deployment activities.
