Job summary

Cognizant Technology Solutions Corporation in the United States seeks an experienced Mainframe Developer to design, develop, and maintain core banking applications using COBOL, JCL, and VSAM. You will deliver batch processing solutions and support critical banking operations across Deposits, Loans, and General Ledger.

You will collaborate with BAs, architects, and QA teams, participate in code reviews and deployments, and provide production support.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of hands‑on mainframe development using COBOL, JCL, VSAM and batch processing.
• Strong experience in core banking domains: Deposits, Loans, Customer & Account Management, GL, Tax systems.
• Proficiency with mainframe tools such as Endevor, Xpediter, and Easytrieve.
• Knowledge of CICS and IMS is preferred.
• Ability to analyze requirements and develop/air enhancements, troubleshoot, and support deployments in banking environments.
• Experience with FIS Systematics Core Banking Platform is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, enhance, test, and maintain mainframe apps supporting core banking operations.
• Analyze business and technical requirements and translate into mainframe solutions.
• Develop and support batch jobs using COBOL, JCL, VSAM and related tools.
• Perform code debugging, troubleshooting, defect resolution, and production support.
• Collaborate with analysts, architects, testers and stakeholders to implement enhancements.
• Participate in code reviews and SIT/UAT deployments.
