Job summary
BCforward is seeking an IT Engineer for a remote, 12-month contract to lead mainframe automation projects. The role focuses on migrating from CA OPS/MVS to IBM Tivoli System Automation, creating automation scripts in REXX, and improving z/OS performance with strong storage operations expertise.
The ideal candidate will provide L2/L3 support, implement permanent fixes from RCA, and ensure audit-ready, compliant configurations, while collaborating with vendors and CAB processes.
Qualifications
- Strong experience in mainframe automation.
- Hands-on knowledge of CA OPS/MVS and IBM SA migration.
- Proficiency in REXX scripting for automation.
- Basic understanding of z/OS, JCL, and batch processing.
- Experience providing L2/L3 support and driving RCA and permanent fixes.
Responsibilities
- Lead product migration from CA OPS/MVS Event Management and Automation to IBM Tivoli System Automation.
- Develop automation scripts using REXX and related tools to streamline operations, monitoring, and incident management.
- Enhance system reliability and efficiency by leveraging IBM System Automation and OPC/MVS.
- Install and maintain storage-related software and utilities.
- Support storage hardware upgrades and firmware updates, coordinating with vendors as needed.
- Provide L2/L3 support for storage-related incidents and drive timely resolution per SLAs.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes for recurring issues.
- Raise and implement changes through the CAB process and maintain configuration documentation.
- Ensure compliance with audit, security, and organizational standards.
- Identify and implement opportunities to optimize storage operations and reduce manual effort.
