Job summary

Portage Learning is seeking a Subject Matter Expert to author eight fully online, asynchronous macroeconomics modules for undergraduate students. You will create comprehensive content, aligned assessments, and collaborate with Instructional Design to build a standards-aligned course.

The role involves developing explanations, examples, and practice opportunities, integrating open educational resources when appropriate, and coordinating with production, accessibility, and editorial teams.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in economics, business administration or related field.
• Experience teaching introductory economics at college or adult learner level.
• Strong academic writing skills in English; able to write engaging asynchronous lessons.
• Experience creating assessments aligned to learning outcomes.
• Comfort with OER and/or adapting existing texts responsibly.

Responsibilities

• Write full lesson content for 8 asynchronous modules aligned to learning objectives.
• Create assessments, 6 alternate versions per question, and exam banks.
• Draft lecture slides following Portage standards and identify high-value concepts for interactivity.
• Collaborate with Instructional Design, Production, Accessibility, and Editorial teams through review cycles.
• Provide revisions based on internal feedback.
