Job summary

Canonical is hiring a Software Maintenance Engineer to work on Ubuntu-based infrastructure and open source applications. You will tackle issues across the stack, including kernel, virtualization, storage, and networking, contribute upstream, and collaborate with global teams in a remote setting.

You will engage with diverse technologies like Kubernetes, Ceph, and OpenStack, while communicating clearly and solving complex problems for enterprise customers across time zones.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of Linux and open source software.
• Experience with Python, Go, C or C++ on Linux.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and work upstream.

Responsibilities

• Resolve complex customer problems related to Ubuntu, Kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, or Kubernetes.
• Develop bug fixes and backport patches, coordinate with upstream.
• Review code and contribute to upstream communities.
• Communicate clearly with teams and customers.
• Travel up to 10% for team meetings and conferences.
