Job summary

Nationwide is seeking a Life Underwriting Consultant to analyze, select, and classify complex life insurance applications, ensuring underwriting quality per policies and standards. You will work with autonomy, guiding decisions within underwriting authority and collaborating with partners.

The role offers flexibility with hybrid or remote work options, and opportunities to lead on projects while developing underwriter expertise. Ten years of underwriting experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Ten years life underwriting experience
• Undergraduate studies in medical related discipline, marketing, insurance, risk management, economics, finance or business management
• AALU designation or related professional studies or designation such as CLU/FLMI

Responsibilities

• Underwrites complex life insurance applications up to their maximum handling limit as approved by the Chief Underwriter.
• Reviews and decisions on larger, more sophisticated, or unusual business.
• Coordinates life selection standards according to underwriting practices.
• Leads training and mentoring for underwriters and coordinates issue training.
• Educates internal and external partners on underwriting processes and tools.
