Job summary

Continental General is seeking a Life Claims Examiner to investigate and maintain basic life insurance claims, evaluating coverage and liability, and securing information needed to review and pay benefits. You will work within defined authority on moderate complexity tasks to ensure accurate, on-time claim payments in compliance with laws and company policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years of related experience.
• Works within specific limits and authority on assignments of moderate complexity.
• Handles claims of high frequency and low severity.
• Performs work under moderate supervision.
• Possesses good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Investigates and maintains basic claims.
• Reviews and evaluates coverage and/or liability.
• Secures and analyzes necessary information to review and pay claim benefits (i.e., reports, policies, appraisals, releases, statements, records, or other documents).
• May affect settlements/reserves within prescribed limits; submits recommendations to supervisor on cases exceeding personal authority.
• Conveys simple information (coverage, decisions, outcomes, etc.) to all appropriate parties, maintaining a professional demeanor in all situations.
• Ensures that claims payments are issued in a timely and accurate manner.
• Ensures claims handling is conducted in compliance with applicable statutes, regulations, and other legal requirements, and that all applicable company procedures and policies are followed.
