Job summary

The Office of Applied Innovation at Drexel University is hiring a Licensing Manager to evaluate inventions, secure IP protection, and drive licensing and collaborations in life sciences and engineering.

The role focuses on building partnerships with faculty and industry, developing commercialization strategies, drafting agreements, and advancing tech transfer while working primarily remote with periodic campus engagement.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required or equivalent; focus in engineering, life sciences, or biomedical engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years related experience in technology commercialization.
• Experience managing multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
• Knowledge of disciplines related to life sciences, engineering, or biomedical engineering.
• Excellent analytical and negotiating skills; strong time management and communication.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate Drexel inventions for potential protection and licensing.
• Protect qualifying discoveries via patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets.
• Develop relationships and contribute to timely contracts and agreements for tech transfer.
• Drive commercialization processes including market analysis and business development.
• Draft and negotiate term sheets, licenses, and inter-institutional agreements.
• Educate the Drexel community about Applied Innovation services and promote innovation culture.
