Job summary

Txla in Texas is seeking a Research & Instruction Librarian to support students, faculty, staff, and the community with research assistance and instructional services both in-person and online. This role collaborates with colleagues in the Learning Commons on instructional initiatives and creates and maintains learning materials to promote equitable access.

The position reports to the Coordinator of Library Research & Instruction and supports ongoing professional development in line with the

The Research & Instruction Librarian supports students, faculty, staff, and the community by providing research assistance and instructional services both in-person and online. This role collaborates with colleagues in the Learning Commons on instructional initiatives and creates and maintains learning materials, promoting equitable access and student support. This position receives general direction from the Coordinator of Library Research & Instruction and exercises no supervision.

Knowledge of:

• Research methods and resources;
• Pedagogical theories, inclusive teaching practices, and ACRL Information Literacy Framework;
• Instructional design principles and learning technologies, including LibGuides;
• Library services, policies, and procedures;
• Academic program structures within designated liaison areas;
• Ethical use of artificial intelligence (AI) in academic research, instruction, and work-related tasks;
• Trends and emerging best practices in academic librarianship and professional development;

Skills in:

• Designing and delivering engaging, effective, and inclusive library instruction across modalities;
• Applying inclusive pedagogy and ACRL Information Literacy Framework;
• Conducting reference interviews and research consultations;
• Creating and maintaining research guides and online instructional content;
• Project management, planning, and assessment;
• Using and troubleshooting library systems and databases;

Ability to:

• Contribute to team-based instructional initiatives and pursue personal specialization;
• Work collaboratively as a member of a team to achieve goals;
