Job summary

Lumen is seeking a Lead Site Reliability Engineer to drive architectural excellence for Azure-based services in a fully remote role across the United States. You will own platform engineering standards, design CI/CD and observability, and partner with development teams to deliver scalable, secure, high-availability services.

The role emphasizes AKS, GitOps, Terraform/Bicep, and container security, with a focus on performance, reliability, and compliance across cloud workloads.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in DevOps/SRE roles with leadership experience.
• Deep Azure cloud expertise (Public/Gov) and resource mgmt.
• Hands-on with AKS, Helm 3, Flux CD (GitOps), Docker.
• CI/CD automation using Jenkins and GitHub Actions; IaC with Terraform/Bicep.
• Ability to obtain GSA Tier 2 clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate AKS clusters with guardrails.
• Implement GitOps with Flux CD; define Helm chart standards.
• Own container platform best practices: Docker image standards and governance.
• Configure Nginx and Kong with routing, TLS, JWT/OAuth2, and WAF.
• Stand up Prometheus for metrics and Grafana for dashboards.
• Lead Jenkins pipelines and GitHub Actions workflows.
• Build IaC pipelines with Terraform/Bicep and policy checks.
• Integrate Azure Key Vault for secret management and cert-manager automation.
• Design Azure Networking in hub-spoke models.
• Operate Azure DBs and Cosmos DB for workloads.
