Job summary

CommonSpirit Health seeks a Supervisor, Coding Professional Fee to lead professional fee coders and support staff across inpatient and outpatient coding, abstracts, and charge posting. You will monitor charge lag, staff productivity, and provide education while partnering with clinics to resolve coding issues.

This role requires strong professional fee coding expertise, supervisory leadership, and the ability to manage staff, ensure quality, and maintain payer-compliant coding.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years of experience in health care and revenue cycle within a physician practice.
• Professional coding experience.
• Competency in professional coding guidelines.
• Experience with the electronic health record (EHR) and health care applications.
• CPC or CCSP

Responsibilities

• Directly supervises personnel, including work allocation, training, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions.
• Motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance while promoting coding quality to comply with payer guidelines and regulations.
• Conducts quality control audits of staff to verify coding quality metrics are maintained and identify opportunities for further education.
• Manages processes within the system to verify coding completion timelines are maintained.
• Evaluates staffing needs and optimizes resource use through cross-training/cross-coverage to promote consistent processing of charges.
• Trains staff on coding practices, policies and procedures, system, and payer regulations.
