Job summary

Gardens Interactive is seeking a Lead Game Engineer to drive the Gameplay Engineering team in a fully remote studio. You will mentor engineers, own the technical roadmap, and collaborate with design, art, and production to deliver high-quality multiplayer experiences.

With 6+ years in game development (Unreal Engine) and 2+ years in leadership, you’ll balance architecture with pragmatic delivery, communicate trade-offs clearly, and take ownership in a lean, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional game development experience, shipped title(s) built in Unreal Engine.
• 2+ years of experience directly managing or leading engineers (tech lead, team lead, or similar).
• Strong C++ skills and deep familiarity with Blueprint workflows.
• Hands-on experience with online multiplayer systems, including replication, client-server architecture, netcode, and related debugging.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of game engineers; set goals, conduct 1:1s, provide feedback, and support career development.
• Plan, recruit, and interview technical roles within Gameplay Engineering.
• Own team processes: planning, code reviews, on-call/bug triage, and estimation.
• Communicate engineering status, risks, and trade-offs clearly to studio leadership.
