Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer, Data Center, specializing in Hyper‑scale facilities to lead electrical design and oversight. This remote role can be based anywhere in the United States and may require periodic on-site collaboration and travel.

You will design, implement, and maintain electrical systems for large data centers, ensure compliance with NEC/IEC standards, and mentor mid‑level engineers while driving project success and client engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with eight years of relevant data center experience.
• Professional Engineer license (P.E.) or equivalent designation required.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for hyper-scale data centers including power distribution and backup systems.
• Develop and maintain electrical schematics and installation drawings.
• Ensure NEC/IEC code compliance and industry standards.
• Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders on design criteria and budgets.
• Analyze loads, capacity planning, and power consumption optimization.
• Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
• Lead safety programs and training for technicians.
• Stay current with data center tech and propose improvements.
• Act as accountable electrical discipline lead for projects.
• Mentor mid-level engineers and provide technical input to staff.
• Approve and sign off on work as Engineer of Record.
• Provide budget and schedule estimates for large projects.
• Lead client relationships and participate in business development.
