Job summary

Legence is seeking a highly skilled Lead Cybersecurity Specialist to guide a team of cyber analysts in advancing our security posture. This role emphasizes cloud security, risk management, and cross-functional collaboration with IT and engineering to embed security across development and operations.

You will lead security architecture efforts, drive risk assessments and incident response, and mentor junior staff while aligning security initiatives with Legence's business goals and regulatory

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5-10+ years of cybersecurity experience with progression into senior or lead roles.
• Deep expertise in cloud, network, and enterprise security architecture.
• Experience with SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, firewalls, and encryption.
• Proven risk management, incident response, and vulnerability management experience.
• Scripting or programming proficiency for automation (Python/PowerShell/Bash).
• Experience with security frameworks and compliance standards (NIST, ISO 27001, CIS).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication skills with ability to influence stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead cloud security architecture and governance across platforms.
• Develop and enforce cloud security controls and IAM/workload protection.
• Collaborate with engineering to embed security in DevOps (DevSecOps).
• Evolve the enterprise security risk management program and perform risk assessments.
• Translate risks into business impact and present to leadership.
• Build automation frameworks to improve detection, response, and compliance.
• Integrate security tooling (SIEM, EDR, CSPM) into a cohesive security ecosystem.
• Oversee monitoring, detection, and incident response across networks and clouds.
• Lead vulnerability management lifecycle and coordinate pen-testing.
• Support governance, risk, and compliance initiatives (NIST, ISO, SOC 2).
• Mentor junior staff and align security with organizational goals.
