Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Computational Biologist to head remote research initiatives and guide a team of scientists in applying computational methods to complex biological questions. You will set strategic direction, foster innovation, and drive research that impacts drug discovery and development.

Requirements include a Ph.D. in a related field and 8+ years in computational biology or bioinformatics, with 2+ years in leadership.

Qualifications

PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Statistics, or closely related field.
8+ years of progressive experience in computational biology or bioinformatics, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Proven programming experience in Python, R, and C++, plus cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
Strong background in statistical modeling, ML, and data mining for biological data.
Experience with high-throughput data types and analytical pipelines.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills for remote guidance.

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor a team of computational biologists and bioinformaticians.
Develop and implement advanced computational strategies for large-scale datasets.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate biology hypotheses into computational plans.
Oversee development and optimization of algorithms and software tools.
Present findings to stakeholders and at scientific conferences.
Ensure quality and reproducibility of analyses and pipelines.
