Placements24 is seeking a Lead Computational Biologist to spearhead genomics research, developing scalable pipelines for NGS data and leading a team of computational biologists. This fully remote role offers flexibility and a chance to shape research directions in bioinformatics.

You will design statistical analyses and ML models to identify biomarkers, collaborate with experimental biologists, and stay at the forefront of genomics innovation in a remote-first culture.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, CS, Stats or related quantitative field.
• 7+ years of experience in computational biology focusing on genomics/transcriptomics.
• Proficiency in Python, R, and Bash.
• Experience with NGS data analysis tools and platforms (GATK, STAR, Salmon, Seurat).

Responsibilities

• Develop scalable bioinformatics pipelines for processing and analyzing NGS data.
• Design and perform sophisticated statistical analyses on large genomic, transcriptomic, and epigenomic datasets.
• Collaborate with experimental biologists to interpret sequencing results and guide future experimental design.
• Build predictive models and machine learning algorithms to identify biomarkers and therapeutic targets.
• Lead and mentor a team of computational biologists, fostering collaboration and innovation.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in genomics, bioinformatics, and related fields.
