Job summary

UnitedHealth Group seeks a Lead AI/ML Engineer to define and execute the AI/ML engineering roadmap, providing technical leadership for ML, Generative AI, NLP, and predictive analytics. You will design, build, and deploy production-grade models while championing responsible AI practices.

You will implement end-to-end MLOps workflows on Azure or GCP, mentor engineers, and collaborate with business leaders to translate complex problems into scalable AI solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software or data engineering experience.
• 2+ years hands-on ML engineering experience.
• Experience deploying production-ready ML/DL models.
• Experience designing cloud-native infrastructure or MLOps pipelines (Azure or GCP).
• Proven track record delivering AI solutions with measurable business impact.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the AI/ML engineering roadmap aligned with business objectives.
• Provide technical leadership for AI, ML, Generative AI, Agentic AI, NLP, and Predictive Analytics initiatives.
• Lead AI solution architecture reviews and technology selection decisions while mentoring AI/ML engineers and data scientists.
• Design, build, train, evaluate, and deploy production-ready ML/DL models.
• Lead implementation of LLM-based applications, RAG architectures, AI agents, and conversational AI platforms.
• Design and implement end-to-end MLOps pipelines, CI/CD standards, model monitoring, drift detection, and observability on cloud platforms (Azure or GCP).
• Collaborate with data engineering teams to develop reliable data pipelines and feature stores while ensuring security and regulatory compliance.
• Partner with business leaders and domain experts to translate complex business problems into scalable AI solutions and communicate outcomes to executives.
• Strategically leverage enterprise AI capabilities to streamline workflows and optimize inference performance.
