Job summary

Optum Tech, part of UnitedHealth Group, is seeking a Senior AI/ML Engineer to design and deliver AI-powered, full-stack solutions. You will work with Next.js, React, and TypeScript to create scalable applications, integrating LLM capabilities for summarization, search, and decision support within Azure cloud services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of equivalent software engineering experience.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including full-stack development.
• 4+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and cloud-native deployment models.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience integrating LLMs and building AI-powered capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered solutions with responsible AI.
• Build LLM-powered capabilities (summarization, search, assistants, decision support).
• Develop full stack apps with Next.js, React, and TypeScript patterns.
• Design, optimize, and secure backend services and APIs for scalability.
• Manage data models and queries in PostgreSQL for performance.
• Deploy and monitor apps on Microsoft Azure (App Services, Containers, Functions, Storage, AI).
• Implement cloud architecture, CI/CD, observability, and cost optimization practices.
• Collaborate with architects/AI engineers on system design and integration.
• Write clean, tested code; lead code reviews and standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and influence tech decisions.
