Job summary

UnitedHealth Group seeks an experienced AI/ML engineering lead to drive responsible adoption of generative AI across the Provider Digital Technology team. You will design and deploy production-grade AI/ML services, ensure privacy and security compliance, and mentor engineers in Python/Java and LLM application patterns.

You will partner with product managers, architects, data scientists, and platform teams to translate complex healthcare needs into scalable AI solutions across enterprise data,

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent).
• 6+ years of software engineering experience.
• 4+ years designing and building AI/ML solutions including LLM apps.
• 4+ years web services, RESTful APIs, microservices experience.
• 4+ years cloud deployment/operations (AWS preferred).
• 3+ years Python or Java programming.

Responsibilities

• Lead responsible adoption of AI/ML across the team with Generative AI, NLP, and predictive modeling.
• Design, build, deploy, and improve production-grade AI/ML services and APIs.
• Engineer responsible AI with guardrails, privacy controls, auditability and regulatory compliance.
• Develop LLM-powered capabilities using prompts, RAG, embeddings, and vector search.
• Provide technical leadership for chatbots, conversational AI, and workflow automation.
