Job summary

LivePerson is seeking a Java Backend Engineer to design and build high-performance, scalable systems. You will develop low-latency backend services with a focus on RESTful APIs and reliability, troubleshoot production issues, and enhance existing codebases.

You will work on on-call rotations and collaborate with the Bots & Automation team to build the next-generation bot runtime platform. This fully remote role offers a comprehensive benefits package and a salary range of $150,000–$170,000 USD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or related field.
• 7+ years of production software experience.
• Strong understanding of data structures and algorithm design.
• Strong Java/Spring Boot and multi-threading knowledge.
• Expert-level databases: SQL and NoSQL (Cassandra, MySQL).
• Experience with data processing tools: Kafka, Airflow, Spark, Hadoop.
• Experience building REST APIs and debugging distributed microservices.
• Experience with Git, Jenkins, and other development tools.
• Experience integrating with third-party APIs; Kubernetes experience a plus.
• Knowledge of NodeJS & Python a plus; GCP/AWS a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-volume, low-latency applications for mission-critical systems with high availability and performance.
• Design REST-based backend services.
• Debug production issues and maintain existing codebase.
• Develop technical specifications and documentation.
• Participate in on-call rotations.
• Work with Bots & Automation team on next-gen bot runtime platform.
