The role favors strong editorial judgment, familiarity with style guides, and collaboration with SMEs. It is a remote, part-time contractor position with 10–15 hours per week and flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• Professional experience in English-to-Japanese translation and substantive Japanese editing.
• Excellent written Japanese and strong English reading comprehension.
• Ability to explain editorial decisions and preserve source meaning.
• Experience applying style guides and glossaries, researching terminology.
• Comfort reviewing AI-generated translations critically and taking responsibility for quality.
• Ability to learn Codio and work directly in an online content platform.

Responsibilities

• Review AI-generated Japanese translations against English source content, correcting errors and inconsistencies.
• Restructure sentences for clarity and learner-appropriate Japanese.
• Preserve technical meaning, learning objectives, and quiz content integrity.
• Edit directly in Codio, preserving formatting of lessons and assessments.
• Apply and update style guides and glossaries with team input.
• Flag unclear English content and verify terminology with SMEs.
• Provide feedback to improve translation guidance and workflows.
• Work independently, communicate progress, and meet deadlines.
