Job summary

Alignerr is seeking native Japanese language experts to help evaluate and improve AI systems trained on Japanese content. Your linguistic insight and teaching background will shape how AI understands, generates, and teaches Japanese, making a real impact on language learning and AI tutoring.

This is an hourly contract, remote with a minimum 15 hours per week and fully asynchronous work. You will assess learner language, provide structured feedback, and collaborate with project leads to enhance

Qualifications

• Native-level proficiency in Japanese.
• Experience teaching Japanese or evaluating learner language.
• Strong English communication skills (C1/C2).
• Familiar with learner speech patterns and CEFR proficiency frameworks.
• Enrolled in or completed a Bachelor's degree or higher.
• Detail-oriented with a principled approach to linguistic judgment.
• No prior AI experience required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate AI-generated Japanese speech and text for linguistic accuracy, naturalness, and educational quality.
• Assess learner speech and writing across CEFR levels from Pre-A1 to B2+.
• Identify learner errors, awkward phrasing, and pedagogical gaps using expert judgment.
• Suggest improvements for clear, idiomatic, and culturally authentic Japanese.
• Provide structured, actionable feedback to improve AI tutoring and language-learning models.
• Collaborate asynchronously with project leads and fellow experts.
