Job summary

Alignerr is seeking Japanese language experts to help evaluate and improve AI systems built for Japanese language learning and communication. Your linguistic insight and teaching background will directly shape how AI understands, assesses, and responds in Japanese — making a real impact on learners around the world.

This remote, asynchronous role offers flexible hours and potential for ongoing engagement and contract extension, allowing you to contribute to high-quality AI language instruction

Qualifications

• Native-level proficiency in Japanese and experience teaching or evaluating learner language.
• Fluent in English (C1/C2 level) and familiar with CEFR frameworks.
• Enrolled in or completed a Bachelor's degree or higher.
• Strong attention to detail and consistency in linguistic judgment.
• No prior AI experience required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate AI-generated Japanese speech and text for linguistic accuracy and educational quality.
• Assess learner speech and writing across CEFR levels Pre-A1 through B2+.
• Identify learner errors and pedagogical gaps with expert judgment.
• Provide structured feedback to improve AI tutoring models.
• Collaborate asynchronously with project leads and other language experts.
• Contribute to higher quality and reliability of AI language instruction.

Japanese Language Expert (AI Training)

What You'll Do

• Evaluate AI-generated Japanese speech and text for linguistic accuracy, naturalness, and educational quality
• Assess learner speech and writing across proficiency levels from CEFR Pre-A1 through B2+
• Identify learner errors, unnatural phrasing, and pedagogical gaps with expert judgment
• Provide clear, structured feedback that improves AI tutoring and language-learning models
• Collaborate asynchronously with project leads and fellow language experts
• Contribute to raising the overall quality and reliability of AI language instruction

Who You Are

• Native-level proficiency in Japanese
• Experience teaching Japanese or evaluating learner language
• Fluent in English (C1/C2 level)
• Familiar with learner speech patterns and CEFR frameworks
• Enrolled in or completed a Bachelor's degree or higher
• Strong attention to detail and consistency in linguistic judgment
• No prior AI experience required

Nice to Have

• Experience with language assessment, curriculum design, or standardized testing
• Exposure to AI-powered language tools or educational technology
• Comfort working independently in structured, asynchronous workflows
