Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University's Technology Services is seeking an IT Systems Analyst to support Building Automation System (BAS) and CMMS servers, databases, and applications. The role blends deployment planning, software implementation, and hands‑on support to ensure security, reliability, and performance across Facilities systems.

Reporting to the Director of Business Application and Integration Services, the analyst works with Facilities Management and central IT to manage deployments,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent training and experience.
• 3–5 years deploying and configuring Windows servers, operating systems, and applications.
• 3–5 years of experience with relational databases (MS SQL preferred).
• Demonstrated experience creating and implementing server architecture plans.
• Ability to translate business requirements into functional specifications and implement with stakeholders and vendors.
• Willingness to assist with deployments, backups, and incident‑response workflows under senior guidance.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a cross‑functional environment.
• Commitment to excellent customer service and technical support.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the planning, implementation, and maintenance of commercial software and system integrations.
• Participate in server architecture planning and deployments.
• Support integrations with university authentication systems (Entra, CAS, SSO, OAuth) and third‑party services.
• Maintain and enhance existing servers and applications with attention to performance and maintainability.
• Coordinate with University Center and IT teams on infra, security, and access control.
• Assist with deployments, backups, and incident‑response workflows under senior guidance.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and translate technical concepts for non‑technical stakeholders.
